1928 Ford Model A Rat Rod Body Reworking

With this post I'm introducing my 1928 Ford Model A Rat Rod, as well as detailing some body work (rework?) I did on it.

 As you can see, it's pretty bad ass!

Home Sale, Final Thoughts

After 6 years of living and working in the house, it was finished. It was also time to move on.

I'll post the final pics here that I used in the real estate for sale ad.

I learned a ton throughout this process. There were definitely highs and lows mentally, financially, and in several other areas!

The end result with the house is that I was super happy with the results.

Lower Level Living Room Remodel

There was a second living room in the basement. It was in really bad shape with old carpet, bad paneling, a drop ceiling that was extremely old, an outdated looking fire place, old door, a rotted window, and more.

Living Room Remodel

The living room was one of those rooms that was somewhat awesome, and somewhat a nightmare. The floors were the great part, new hardwood! Bonus. The walls were in bad shape with cheap repairs, and 2 layers of paneling on the south wall. The windows were in bad shape, old and wooden; rotted through in spots. The south wall also had no windows, and there was no ceiling light; so it was cavey dark.

 This window was the main offender, I had the contractor replace it.

Kitchen Remodel

There really wasn't much to do in the kitchen. The floors, cabinets, counters, and all that had already been remodeled. Again, this was one of the very few selling points of this house when I bought.

 The only issues in here were the walls: the drywall was a bit rough in spots, had been patched poorly, and so on.

Entryway / Foyer Remodel

This home had a massive entry way area. I'm not sure why, but it did; and it was a huge waste of square footage. There wasn't much I could do about that, but at least there were a few closets for storage.

Here's the move in day photos.

 As you can see, it was as woefully out dated as the rest of the house. Bad vinyl floor, dark foreboding doors, paneling on the walls, fake beams on the ceiling, old hollow core closet and basement doors, rusty heat register, and more.

Downstairs Bathroom Remodel

In the interest of finishing up the blog on last few rooms of this house, which was finished and sold in 2015, I'm making a few additional posts.

I'm a bit short on pics for this one, but I'll use what I have.

Laundry Room Remodel

I finally got around to finishing the laundry room. There wasn't much I hadn't done in this room. The only new item was moving the gas lines that feed the dryer.

The only real secret there is to shut off the main gas line to the house before starting.

Bedroom 3 Remodel

This bedroom was pretty much the same process as Bedroom 2 was (see previous post). The only difference was that there was a closet door that I moved from this bedroom to the hallway.

Bedroom 2 Remodel

The bedrooms in this house were in decent shape. This one had really bad paneling on one wall, bad windows, and a really dated 1970's style ceiling fan.

 

Building a Garage

After removing the garden shed, as seen here: Cleaning Up The Property, I decided I needed an extra garage.

The first step was to bust out the old broken up slab.

Cleaning Up The Property: Structure Removal

There were several junky old structures on the property, other than the shed that I turned into a garden in a previous post.

It was a junky old garage that was completely rotted out, and was falling over. It had a gravel floor in it.

Interruption #2: Custom Harley Build - Bobber / Chopper

Once in a while I decide to focus on something else. I bought this bike in August, and spent November through the following August customizing and rebuilding it. It's nice to take a break from house related work, and to learn something new!

Here's what I started with. It's a 2006 Harley Sportster 1200C.

The Family Bathroom Project

I've finally finished another room in the house. The upstairs hallway bathroom.

I'm going to mix this post up a bit, and put all the pics side by side: pre-remodel next to the finished result of the same part of the room. That should better show off how drastic the change is.

I'm really happy with how this turned out. All told it was around 90 hours of work, over the last few months. It cost around $3,500.

Here's how it looked before I started. At this point I had already replaced the old rotten wooden window, as well as the toilet. The floor was vinyl, and the fixtures were dated back to the 70's.

In this pic you can see I redid the trim, and tiled the floor.

Complete Landscaping

Since we're in the dead of Winter right now, I thought I'd post a Summer project. Late this Summer I finished all of the landscaping that was on my list.

Here's a reminder of the way the landscaping looked when I bought the house. At best it can be described as non-existant, at worst: a disaster.

The Master Bathroom Project

When I purchased this home, there was no Master Bathroom. There was this really weird side room in the hallway, that shared a wall with the Master Bedroom.

 As you can see, it was some kind of craft room or something; maybe an office.

The Hallway Remodel

The hallway was extremely dated when I moved in. It had pretty bad paneling on the walls, and really old pineapple looking lights on the ceiling. It was always pretty dark up there, as there were only two lights total. The only switch for the lights was down the stairs om the level below the upstairs, in the living room area. Lastly, the ceiling paint was peeling pretty bad in front of the bathroom doorway, due to humidity.

As you can see, it wasn't very pretty!
